Overview

The Infection Control Partner has primary responsibility for development and ownership of the Infection Control specialty offerings including thought leadership, product development, sales leadership, and oversight of specialty projects. This role combines deep specialty expertise with strategic business development to expand JCR/JCI's impact with healthcare organizations globally. The Infection Control Partner serves as the subject matter expert in the provision of Infection Control consultation, education, and technical assistance to US and international healthcare organizations to assist in improving patient care, quality, and safety through enhanced facility safety and environment of care practices. The Infection Control Partner plays a key role in championing excellent client service delivery and building and maintaining trusted long-term client relationships in the Infection Control domain. This position has unique and significant responsibility to grow the business with clear revenue targets and oversees complex client engagements with multifaceted organizations including academic medical centers, healthcare systems, ministries of health, and regional health authorities. The Infection Control Partner acts as a leader within JCR/JCI through mentorship, coaching, thought leadership, and specialty expertise development, maintaining current knowledge of healthcare facility safety trends and sharing best practices with the consulting team and clients.  The Infection Control Parter may have up to 5 full-time direct reports.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities: Client Engagement Leadership

  • Oversees complex and large client engagements with multifaceted organizations including academic medical centers, healthcare systems, ministries of health clients, and regional health authorities.
  • Leads Infection Control specialty area specific project work that spans considerable time, involves integration and expertise of several consultants, and requires sponsorship and active involvement by client organization's executive leadership.
  • Provides exceptional on-site and off-site consultation and education to US and international healthcare organizations emphasizing practical approaches in the application of Infection Control leading practices.
  • Oversees the development of written consultation reports, action plans, dashboards, and other deliverables aimed at both front-line staff and senior healthcare executives.
  • Obtains feedback from JCR/JCI clients regarding quality of services and deliverables and actively makes improvements.
  • Promotes JCR/JCI products and services through public speaking engagements and representation at high profile national and international conferences, meetings, conventions, and JCR/JCI sponsored seminars and conferences as requested.
  • Writes and reviews papers, chapters, case studies, and articles for publication or for JCR journals or newsletters as requested.

Duties and Responsibilities: Thought Leadership and Mentorship

  • Serves as mentor and thought leader within Joint Commission by developing Infection Control content and sharing knowledge and best practices with consulting team, clients, and stakeholders throughout the Enterprise.
  • Contributes to the betterment of the firm by developing new Infection Control products, writing white papers, designing training curriculum, coaching and mentoring consultants, leading committees, and serving as faculty for internal and external learning events.
  • Exhibits excellent performance across consulting core competencies, solicits feedback from managers, and provides feedback to various staff including peers, consultants, and associates to provide exceptional and relevant client service.
  • Participates on committees, task forces, and teams in design, testing, evaluation, and redesign of JCR/JCI's consulting and education products and services, business processes, and various initiatives assigned.
  • Actively shares innovations, creative strategies, and experiences with colleagues.
  • Develops educational materials for use in revenue generating opportunities when requested.
  • Actively participates in recruitment, hiring, on-boarding process, and retention of talent.
  • Models spirit of quality and collaboration across JCR/JCI services and with all colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities: Business Development and Revenue Growth

  • Supports revenue growth by generating sales and developing new Infection Control products and services to achieve or exceed individual revenue target and sales goals.
  • Assumes responsibility for the strategic direction and growth of the Infection Control practice to defined strategic markets, inclusive of lead generation, proposal development, and sale of JCR/JCI products and services.
  • Works with Executive Director to develop and maintain individual business development strategy and plan to achieve target.
  • Maintains and grows client relationships through ongoing communications and systematic process for client follow-up.
  • Documents and tracks client needs and sales opportunities in Salesforce and manages pipeline of future business.
  • Identifies the unique needs of JCR/JCI client organizations and tailors Infection Control consulting services and engagements (type, scope, resources, costs, timing) accordingly.
  • Actively participates in development of new Infection Control consulting products and services to meet needs of existing and future clients and works to close and deliver these opportunities.
  • Leads follow-on conversations with clients and scopes follow-on work based on assessments.
  • Collaborates closely with Regional Managing Directors, Product Delivery Directors, and Account teams to generate leads, develop proposals, and close sales of Infection Control consultations and other JCR products and services.
  • Actively shares innovations, creative strategies, and experiences with colleagues.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Healthcare Infection Control Preventionist professional with extensive experience and master's degree required, clinical degree preferred. Current professional licensure in related disciplines required when required by law at time of hire. No history of disciplinary action relative to current or previous professional license, provided such adverse action did not result solely from individual's health status.

Ten or more years of recent experience in healthcare, with seven to ten years of progressively more responsible experience in senior healthcare management or demonstrated consulting expertise in Infection Control. Extensive knowledge of and experience in healthcare operations, use of performance improvement methods to assess organizational performance, and current research and trends related to Infection Control practices. Experience in accredited healthcare organization is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships and strong working relationships with JC product delivery team and managing directors. Business development skills including ability to define follow-on consultations with existing clients, close sales, and develop new Infection Control consulting products based on current or potential demand.

Leadership presence and ability to coach consultants and teams to develop solutions to complex Infection Control problems. Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to operationalize JC, JCR, and JCI policies, procedures, applications, standards, processes, and methodologies including Tracer, Sustainable Improvement, Performance Improvement, Root Cause Analyses, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis required.

Maintenance of active and current knowledge of state, federal, and international healthcare and Infection Control specific trends and content, established solutions for improvement of patient care through relevant JCR/JCI subject matter, methodologies, and product lines. Demonstrated expertise in JCR/JCI consulting competency framework including Professional and Technical Competence, Consulting Method and Service Provision, Consultative Approach, Management, Effective Communication, Self-Management and Ethical Practice, Business Development, and Professional Development and Continuing Competence and the knowledge, skills, abilities represented therein.

Written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively deliver information and ideas in proposals, position papers, and presentations. Keen business acumen and ability to effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders of all levels from front line to C-Suite within client organizations. Ability to continually improve oneself through professional development and other identified opportunities for growth.

Willingness and ability to travel and to adapt to varying situations and cultures. Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software required. Ability to use internet and web-based tools and resources such as Client Relationship Management and Consultant Knowledge Center required. Ability to lift 25 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, and work in settings in which infectious diseases are present.
