JCI Fellowship Award for Patient Safety Pathways Initiative.
JCI is working on a new strategic initiative ‘JCI Patient Safety Pathways Initiative’ a road map which describes the patient safety and quality journey organizations take to advance safer patient care. This will involve working with ministries of health and healthcare organizations, in various stages of development, to bring about nationwide improvements in the safety of health care, by creating pathways for their patient safety journey for stepwise and incremental improvements, and transformative changes leading to JCI recognition on achievement of
agreed milestones.
Working closely with key national partners, JCI Patient Safety Pathways Fellow will support on-site planning, implementation and monitoring of the initiative, working in close collaboration with MoH, the hospital leadership and patient safety and quality team at the hospital level. The JCI Fellow will support in all steps to implement Pathways at the facility level in all the nominated hospitals including engagement of the hospital leadership, finalization of MOU with MoH and nominated hospitals, adaptation of assessment tool, if required, at the local level, support the local team of assessors in conducting needs assessment, analysis of gaps, identification of key areas for improvement, action plan development, resource mobilization, monitoring, evaluation and reassessment and preparation of periodic progress reports
This one-year fellowship will be awarded to a healthcare professional who demonstrates commitment to safety, quality, and process improvement. The Fellow will be embedded into designated Ministry of Health (MoH), (Cambodia, Maldives, or Philippines) implementing and participating in activities that support safety and quality in hospitals nominated by the MoH. They will do project work under the supervision of designated MoH, (Cambodia, Maldives, or Philippines) and Vice President and Global Chief Patient Safety Officer, JCI.
Eligibility:
Basic university degree (Bachelors) required, in the field of health sciences, patient safety, public health, quality of care, or healthcare systems and services management.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience at the national levels in the development of programs in the field of patient safety, medication safety, quality of care or public health, healthcare service or systems improvement.
