Overview

The Data & Analytics Lead (Senior Managing Director) will drive the strategy and execution of data acquisition and analytics to enhance quality measurement and benchmarking data assets across TJC and its affiliate, the National Quality Forum (NQF). This role will be instrumental in ensuring that quality measurement, data science, and analytics serve as the foundation for TJC’s certification programs, quality improvement initiatives, and strategic objectives.

 

The Data & Analytics Lead will:

  • Oversee and enhance the development and maintenance of TJC’s data assets to support quality measure development, testing, calculation, and benchmarking.
  • Lead a team of data and analytics professionals responsible for statistical modeling, analytics, and data visualization to drive the organization’s quality measurement agenda.
  • Advance the use of real-world healthcare data to inform quality measurement, leveraging cutting-edge methodologies, including machine learning and artificial intelligence.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across TJC and NQF to develop data-driven strategies that align with organizational goals and the evolving healthcare landscape.

This is a high-visibility leadership role that requires expertise in healthcare data, analytics, and quality measurement methodologies, combined with strong team leadership and stakeholder engagement skills. The Data & Analytics Lead will play a critical role in shaping how data and analytics drive quality improvement in healthcare, ensuring that TJC remains at the forefront of healthcare quality measurement and benchmarking.

Responsibilities

Core Analytics Responsibilities

  1. Data Acquisition:
    • Lead the acquisition and integration of data resources necessary for quality measurement, benchmarking, and related analytics initiatives.
    • Design and oversee systems for data validation, management, and governance, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and data security standards.
    • Create trusted data-sharing environments with accredited organizations, payers, purchasers, and specialty societies to enhance data availability and usability.
  1. Data Analytics and Visualization:
    • Supervise the development of data analytics and visualization solutions that translate quality measure results into actionable insights for varied audiences, including healthcare providers, payers, and consumers.
    • Guide the selection and application of advanced tools for data analysis and visualization.
    • Optimize the production and delivery of data products, ensuring accessibility and usability for internal and external stakeholders.
  1. Statistical Leadership and Oversight:
    • Oversee and mentor biostatisticians in the development, validation, and application of statistical methods for measure development and benchmarking.
    • Simplify complex statistical methodologies to ensure they align with practical quality measurement goals and are accessible to diverse audiences.
    • Ensure statistical rigor in the creation of benchmarking models, reports, and data products while supporting innovative approaches such as artificial intelligence.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Master of Science or higher degree in statistics, biostatistics, or data science with statistical emphasis required. Doctorate preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience that includes aggregating real world health care data and overseeing a team of statistical analysts supporting research and applications relevant to quality measurement and improvement.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience team building and managing people in a matrixed organization to execute relevant tasks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the application of advanced statistics and analytics, including predictive modeling with large data sets, hierarchical modeling, machine learning, and other advanced statistical techniques.
  • Experience with multiple types of health care data, including claims, electronic health record, patient-generated, and patient-reported data.
  • Experience leading successful collaborations with partner organizations to optimize and execute data exchange and to collaborate on products and services.
  • Experience initiating and supporting business development (BD) efforts.
  • Experience leading analytics in the healthcare delivery system or at a health plan a plus.

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient programming in R and Python.
  • Proficiency in leading and overseeing multiple projects, staff, and competing priorities to achieve optimal results.
  • Ability to manage client relationships.
  • Ability to translate statistical techniques for multiple audiences.
  • Ability to define the approach to and oversee deliverables and to guide staff on their timely completion.
  • Proven experience fostering an environment for the development of new ideas and solutions, as well as proactively mitigating problems.
  • Advanced facilitation and presentation skills and ability to write/present on behalf of an organization in an organized, concise, and clear manner with compelling and persuasive messages. Experience co-authoring published manuscripts preferred.
