Overview

Expert thought leader on healthcare equity, initiatives, and practices spanning across all health systems and healthcare segements globally. Designs and develops healthcare equity strategies to ensure that business practices, certifications, and services drive results to improve overall health and access to high quality healthcare for underrepresented and underserved communities. Support organizational mission and growth objectives around Health Equity, through global speaking engagements, business development engagements, and key opinion leader forums. Leadership mentality, providing feedback on corporate healthcare equity strategies to ensure that business practices, certifications, and services are compliant with government rules and regulations. Collaborate with other leaders to develop and implement processes and procedures that reduce healthcare inequity. Promote and explain the organization's healthcare equity philosophy to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with a national community of organizations, partners and individuals committed to healthcare equity for all people, at all times, across health systems and improving the quality and delivery of healthcare for all.
• Responsible for connecting and convening experts and key stakeholders to collaborate and share knowledge on advancing healthcare equity and best practices which contribute to the advancement and consistent delivery of healthcare across all continuums of people.
• Represent the Joint Commission as subject matter expert speaker at high profile national and international conferences, symposiums, and sponsored seminars to support our mission in Healthcare Equity and Certification.
• Write and/or review white papers/chapters/case studies/articles related to healthcare equity, steps to reduce health disparity among specific populations/demographic communities based on race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical abilities, geographic location, educational background, and economic status, and addressing the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) that drive chronic illness and negative health outcomes.
• Lead and promote health equity engagement activities through creation of tools, education, and training to increase awareness among Mission Development staff.
• Serve as the internal leader and expert for healthcare equity, monitor trends and communicate/educate all stakeholders on equity topics, participate as needed with Mission Development representatives to facilitate discussions with healthcare organizations to take steps towards to improving health outcomes and availability for underserved communities.
• Manages the collection of all health equity-related data from a wide variety of internal and external sources and analyze to further refine and advance best practice and proven efforts to improve healthcare equity and outcomes and refine the certification standards.
• Participate as needed, with domestic and international Mission Development representatives to facilitate discussions with healthcare organizations to take steps towards building out a robust healthcare equity program and methodology supported by the investment in The Joint Commission and Joint Commission International Healthcare Equity Certification
• Report health equity progress and outcomes to the executive team and the board of directors

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health or related field
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in health care setting with 5 years in management focused on quality improvement & process improvement.
• Professional licensure in related discipline, with no history of disciplinary action(s) relative to current or previous license, provided such adverse action did not result solely from an individual’s health status.
• Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a wide variety of internal and external constituents, including international relationships, such as organizational leadership, Board members, government officials, and clinical and managerial leaders in health care organizations.
• Experience within organized health care or within professional society activities on a state and national level
• Written and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively present information and ideas effectively in articles, proposals, position papers, and presentations
• Occasional domestic travel required, to be determined on an as needed basis.
