Nationwide Search - Incumbent can be located anywhere in the United States

 

Seeking Surgeon or anesthesiologist with experience working in an Ambulatory Surgical Center or Office-Based Surgery setting.  

 

The Ambulatory Care Surveyor- MD surveys ambulatory organizations throughout the United States within the full scope of the Joint Commission’s Ambulatory Programs. Applies systems analysis skills and inductive reasoning skills to determine ambulatory and imaging centers' degree of compliance with applicable standards and functionality of care delivery systems. Engages health care organization staff in interactive dialogues on standards based issues in health care in order to assess compliance and to identify opportunities for improving compliance. Prepares management reports that clearly link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related organization risk points. Effectively communicates this information to health care organization leadership in a constructive and collegial style that leads to a meaningful and inspirational customer experience. Participates in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy. Current professional licensure in related discipline is required at the time of hire, and Board Certified with a minimum of five years of experience working in an ambulatory care setting. Experience must include three years of direct clinical experience and two years in management and or quality improvement. Additionally, current knowledge of The Joint Commission accreditation process is required.  Experience working in an ambulatory surgery or office based setting preferred.  This highly visible and challenging role requires strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills, expertise in interviewing and laptop/tablet proficiency. Must be able to lift 25 lbs., climb stairs, work in settings with infectious diseases, and travel nationwide 100% of work time. Ideal candidates will have experience in a culturally diverse work environment. Must be available to provide monthly availability and work one, two or three weeks per month.

Candidates interested in part time positions must be available to work two weeks (.48 FTE) or three weeks (.7 FTE) per month, and must provide three or four weeks of availability for scheduling purposes. 

Physical Abilities:

  1. Must be able to observe, in real time and without slowing or otherwise interrupting the progress of, all applicable types of ongoing health care treatment (e.g., including emergency treatment, treatment during weather and other extreme situations, etc.).
  2. Standing for long periods of time, walking lengthy distances, lifting, climbing, stooping, pulling, and pushing in order to adequately inspect and observe all medical facilities, equipment and procedures, such as emergency exit procedures, remote storage facilities, any areas where cleanliness may affect the possibility of infection, medical equipment, etc., including the following activities:
  • walking up and down stairways (e.g., to test escape routes, assess safety of emergency exits, regulatory compliance, etc.);
  • Must be able to engage in extensive travel as set forth above, including driving a car to remote locations, flying on small airplanes and into small airports, traveling in all types of weather conditions, etc.
