Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY 

Partners with technical and business resources in designing, developing, modifying, and documenting manual and automated processes.  Works with business partners and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design that lead to developing solutions that are aligned with the business.  Contributes to the establishment of, and compliance with, the department methodology, standards, procedures, practices and goals.

Responsibilities

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Participates in the development of detailed requirements specifications, design specifications, system documentation, workflow procedures, and data modeling documentation.  Communicates system changes and issues to both business sponsors and IT staff.

  2. Acts as a liaison between business users/sponsors and IT staff.  As needed, acts as project liaison with outside vendors and/or health care organizations in support of a project.  

  3. Requires an understanding of data modeling, process flow modeling, user interface, application interface, data processing, reporting, application/system integration, and technical architecture.

  4. Facilitates user testing and assists in analyzing the results.  

  5. Participates in the “post mortem” review of the project with the team to identify areas that went well and those areas that could be improved.  

  6. Works with the project team to create and/or update system documentation.

  7. Participates and understands the full project lifecycle methodology. Assists in the identification of new IT standards and best practices.

  8. Assists in root cause analysis of problems and identifies, analyzes, documents, and helps facilitate the correction of defects in the software at any point in the development life cycle.

  9. Participates in health care, IT, and other professional networks to ensure awareness of industry standards, trends, and best practices in order to strengthen organizational and technical knowledge.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED 

  1. Bachelor Degree in Business, CIS, or equivalent.

  2. Ability to understand concepts governing relational database structures and use reporting/query tools.

  3. 2 + years of experience in business and systems process analysis and design or familiarity with JCAHO business processes.

  4. Demonstrates a combination of business knowledge and technical expertise with strong analysis and problem solving skills.

  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (oral, written, listening). Good analytical skills.   Capable of preparing and delivering presentations to the Project Team.

  6. Works under general supervision according to established procedures and policies.
