The Research Associate will support the Project Director to develop the “Joint Commission International Journey”, a road map which describes the quality journey organizations take as they transform from an organization where patient harm occurs on a daily basis to an organization where there is zero patient harm. Working closely with key internal stakeholders as well as internal and external SMEs, the Project team will also develop the evaluation tools for placing hospitals on the “JCI Journey” and perform refinement and pilot testing of the tools using retrospective and prospective data. The Project team will work with IT and other key stakeholders to develop an effective information capture system to collect data from hospitals in a comprehensive and robust manner, ensure that the project achieves its key milestones in a timely manner and collaborate with Marketing and Finance to develop the value proposition, business model and promotional materials for the “JCI Journey”.


  1. The level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through the completion of at least a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a healthcare-related or technical field.
  2. One to three years of research, technical and/or clinical experience in a healthcare-related field.  
  3. Experience in social science research methods. Project management experience preferred. 
  4. Recognized technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access), Adobe Pro, and multiple web browsers. Demonstrates the ability to quickly learn and master new applications. 
  5. Exhibits, effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively and professionally interact with external stakeholders and project partners. 
  6. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a team-oriented environment. 
  7. Possesses good communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  8. Displays a willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
