Overview

This position supports the Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare’s activities associated with establishing and sustaining a high reliability and robust process improvement culture. The Master Black Belt (MBB) is responsible for adapting Lean Six Sigma and change management to drive results. The MBB provides expert advice to process improvement teams regarding team dynamics, change management, process re-design strategies, performance improvement toolsets (especially those of Lean Six Sigma), and technical expertise. The MBB will train, coach and mentor internal and external process improvement teams, develop internal and external Yellow Belts, Green Belts, and Black Belts, as a part of the Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare’s strategy to employ Lean Six Sigma and change management tools to improve the quality and safety of patient care.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of a Master’s Degree required or Clinical background required
  2. Seven to ten years business/operations experience
  3. Five years health care experience
  4. Master Black Belt certification preferred, Black Belt certification required
  5. Minimum of five years experience as a Black Belt.
  6. Minimum of three years experience as Lean Six Sigma training lead or program lead
  7. Technical mastery of Six Sigma and Lean tools and methodologies, including DMAIC, DFSS, Kaizen, etc.
  8. Five years of coaching leadership and demonstrated experience working with senior leadership on performance improvement projects
  9. Completed seven successful projects and coaching a minimum of five Belt projects to closure. 
  10. Strong project management, interpersonal, and change management skills, including the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  11. Strong strategic business perspective and systems thinking capability.
  12. Strong customer service skills.
  13. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  14. Results oriented with a demonstrated experience of balancing multiple tasks and priorities.
  15. Proficient with Minitab software (advanced Black Belt analysis) and other business software application such as Microsoft Office.
  16. Strong presentation skills 
  17. Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time.
